Summary:  This is expository text with lots of information for children to study about grasshoppers.  We learn about the life cycle of these insects, how they hop, their body parts, and sounds they make.

Spelling Words:  Words spelled with Long /a/ spelled ai, ay, a, and a_e.  Long /e/ spelled ee, ea, e, and e_e.

Words:  tail, reach, queen, fear, say, gave, sweet, acorn, player, even.

Challenge Words:  underneath, always, depend, wait, sneeze.

Vocabulary Words: 

Fussy (adj):  hard to please.    Dull (adj):  not bright or clear.  Sensing (v):  feeling.  Antennae (n):  an insect feelers.  Cycle (n):  a repeated sequence of events.

Grammar Concept:  I can identify the correct words to capitalize.  We are reviewing when to capitalize, mainly focusing on proper nouns, titles and initials.  Review M.I.N.T.S. with your child and they will do great!

N=  Names of specific places, people, states, countries, or businesses.

T= Titles of books, movies, stories, and more…

S= Start of every sentence.
